Health Benefits of Sauna Therapy

Many gyms around the world have saunas but do most of us even know the benefits of going into these rooms of heat? Physically, nothing is more invigorating than a nice deep sweat every day but there are also physical benefits to this heat which we have compiled for you:

Saunas Flush Toxins

Deep sweating is something not many of us can accomplish every day, even though there are multiple proven benefits. Let’s be real, if you are someone that does not work out or lives in a colder climate area then your chances of breaking a sweat are very low. A sauna is an easy way to achieve these benefits with minimal effort. Due to the heat, we see a rise in core body temperature which causes blood flow to increase toward the skin's surface, signaling sweat glands. As the sweat glands become stimulated, they produce sweat. Sweat production is primarily designed to cool the body and is composed of 99% water. However, deep sweating in a sauna can help reduce levels of lead, copper, zinc, nickel, mercury, and chemical - which are all toxins commonly absorbed just from interacting with our daily environments. This detoxification is what most health professionals cosign as the big reason behind the popularity of saunas.

Saunas Reduce incidences of Alzheimer’s by 65%

A 20-year study conducted with more than 2,300 participants at the University of Eastern Finland by Dr. Jari Laukkanen and his colleagues revealed regular sauna use (4-7 times per week) at 176 degrees F for 19 minutes lowered the risk for both Alzheimer's & Dementia.

A form of Stress Relief

Sauna use can help the body and mind adapt to stress and reduce the risk of depression and other mental disorders. In addition to the adaption to stress, improved cardiovascular fitness contributes to the therapeutic effects of sauna for depression and anxiety.

Saunas can reduce and fight Illness

As the body is exposed to the heat of a sauna and steam (in the case of traditional saunas), it produces white blood cells more rapidly, which in turn helps to fight illnesses and helps to kill viruses. In addition, saunas can relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of sinus congestion from colds or allergies - especially when used with steam.  The vapor that is released in steam helps to clear up any unwanted congestion and a great practice to keep your breathing optimal.

Cleanse the Skin

Sauna bathing is one of the oldest beauty and/or health strategies in terms of cleansing one's skin. When the body begins to produce sweat via deep sweating, the skin is then cleansed and dead skin cells are replaced - keeping your skin in good working condition. Sweating rinses bacteria out of the epidermal layer and sweat ducts. Cleansing of the pores has been shown to improve the capillary circulation while giving the skin a softer-looking quality.

All in all, a sauna is an experience that not only will help reduce stress but can provide many benefits that will be sure to help you. Add a weekly sauna bath to your regimen and let us know if you feel any of these benefits!

Unfortunately the gym doesn’t have a sauna. The last one I had did but someone pays for me because I’m single mom and I can’t afford to get through month.Anyway I’m sure all that wasn’t important .
Have you ever heard of places that just have saunas ?Are there such places?
